Welcome to Accessibility Services! Claremont McKenna College is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students with disabilities or other access needs. We are dedicated to removing barriers in our programs, services, and facilities to provide an equitable educational experience for all students.
The Accessibility Services (AS) department is responsible for determining reasonable and appropriate accommodations. AS is overseen by the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) and works in collaboration with faculty and other departments in facilitating the implementation of accommodations for students. OCR collaborates with the Department of Human Resources to assist faculty and staff who qualify for accommodations.
Students seeking accommodations or other support services should register with our office as early as possible to allow sufficient time for the review process. Please use our website and contact information to begin the process.
Claremont McKenna College complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other applicable state and federal law prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities.
Confidentiality
A student’s accommodation profile, including any supporting documentation, is considered confidential information and is kept separate from academic records. Records maintained by the Accessibility Services Office are guided by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In accordance with the law, Accessibility Services will not release any information pertaining to a student’s record or documentation without the prior written consent of the student, except as permitted by law under specific circumstances. Accessibility Services is available for in-person or Zoom meetings Monday through Friday. We encourage you to schedule a meeting in advance to ensure an advisor is available. Our office is located in the Heggblade Center, Room 201.
