Summer Housing Information

Summer housing will be available this summer at the CMC Apartments for CMC students who are enrolled on-campus for Fall 2025. Only CMC students are eligible for summer housing, without exception. Students who are employed by a CMC office or department, engaging in research for, or students taking classes at the Claremont Colleges, and students who are facing extenuating circumstances related to travel will be prioritized for summer housing. All other CMC students who apply will be housed based on availability of space. on a space available basis. If you have retained your Kendry apartment and are applying for Summer Housing, you can request to do so. However, there are no shuttle services provided until the start of the fall semester.

Dates

Summer housing begins on Friday, May 23rd, at 9 a.m. You must check-in at Story House between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. to receive ID card access to your apartment and the metal key to your room (if requested). If you are arriving at a later date, please note that you can only check-in at Story House during business hours, Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. You will not be able to arrive and move into an apartment outside of these days and times (i.e. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Please keep these check-in dates in mind when you plan your arrival. CMC students who have been approved for summer housing will remain in their current assignment until Friday, May 23rd at 9 a.m. At that time, they will be permitted to move into their summer assignment in the student apartments and must complete their move by the end of the day Sunday, May 25th. Special signs will be prepared with your name, room number, and approval date and posted on your current room door indicating that you have been approved to stay for transition housing by May 18th.

Summer housing ends on Friday, July 25th, at 12 p.m. Current CMC students who need to stay on campus beyond July 25th need to indicate this in the application. In most cases, transition housing to your fall housing assignment will be provided.

Apartment Information

Each apartment comes with four single rooms, two private bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. The appliances provided include a refrigerator, a stove, an oven, and a dishwasher. You will need to provide your own utensils, plates, pots/pans, linens, etc. There is no summer meal plan. There are no custodial services provided. Laundry is available with credit card payment. The studio apartments are not available for summer housing.

Parking

Parking at the student apartments is available for summer housing residents only.

Costs, Billing, and Changes/Cancellations

All housing from Sunday, May 18 – Saturday, August 23 costs $280/week or $40/day. If you are approved to remain in summer housing after July 25th, you will continue to pay for housing until August 23. If you’re approved to live on campus in August for a sponsored College program (i.e. Athletics, Dean of Students Office, etc.), your sponsoring department will be responsible for compensating. The residence halls re-open for the fall semester on Saturday, August 23.

All billing will be applied to your CMC student account. Financial aid is not available over summer break for summer housing.

Changes in requested dates for summer housing will be allowed up until Friday, May 16th. After May 16th, you will be billed for the dates that you requested on your application. To change your requested dates for summer housing from what you submitted on your application, contact Residential Life (residentiallife@cmc.edu).

Student Services

Many student services are unavailable or by appointment only during the summer. Additional detailed information will be sent to approved summer residents in mid-May. Campus Safety and Public Safety operate 24/7 year-round. The Dean of Students Office and Story House will continue to operate during business hours in the summer.

Conduct

Students are responsible to adhere to CMC’s Student Code of Conduct while in summer housing. Conduct issues will initiate an investigation which could lead to the loss of summer housing privileges.
