Intercollegiate Athletics

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) is an NCAA Division III athletic program comprised of student-athletes from CMC, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges. CMS sponsors 10 men's (Stags) and 11 women's (Athenas) sports. CMS teams have won over 300 conference championships and seven team national championships since our inception in 1958. Teams are represented by two mascots: Stags and Athenas. The CMS Department of Athletics provides excellent educational, recreational, and competitive opportunities for Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps colleges. CMS strives to build community, promote lifelong health, foster personal leadership and team growth.

Physical Education

CMC students must complete three semesters of physical education, ideally by the end of their sophomore year. Two seasons of CMS intercollegiate athletic team or club sport participation from an approved list will also fulfill the PE requirement. Each semester, students can choose from over 50 PE offerings across the Claremont Colleges including Pilates, fly fishing, yoga, triathlon, archery, martial arts, self-defense, badminton, and rock climbing, just to name a few.
