Parent and Family Orientation

Sunday, August 17, 2025
We are thrilled to welcome the Class of '29 and transfer students and families!
Parent and Family Orientation runs concurrently with move-in day and the student orientation program, but is a separate program designed to meet the specific needs of parents and families. After move-in, while students are meeting each other and attending their own orientation sessions, parents are offered the opportunity to:
- Attend special programs and presentations
- Tour the College and learn about various aspects of the College’s academic, residential, and student life
- Meet and mingle with other CMC families
We look forward to seeing you on campus and welcoming you into the CMC Community!
Move-in Day and CMC Parent & Family Orientation
CMC Parent & Family Orientation will operate concurrently with New Student Orientation and move-in day on Sunday, August 17, 2025. Keys will be issued to students beginning at 8:00 a.m. Our First-Year Guides and other students will be on hand to help guide you to your destination and unload your vehicle! After students are moved into their rooms, students and families will participate in programs together and separately.
WOA Trips
On Monday, August 18, students will depart for their WOA trips. WOA stands for Welcome Orientation Adventure. WOA Trips are destination experiences designed to help students make connections and learn life skills before entering college at CMC. The many trip offerings allow students a variety of opportunities and activities, from surfing to camping to community service and urban engagement. Students will return from WOA on Wednesday, August 20. For more information about WOA, visit the WOA website.
International Students and Families
New International Student Orientation takes place prior to the Claremont McKenna College orientation on Thursday, August 14 - Sunday, August 17. CMC requires new international students to participate in the program.
Varsity Athletes
Fall sport athletes who are invited to participate in pre-season activities will arrive early. Check with individual coaches for exact dates before making plans. Although there frequently are opportunities for parents to meet each other during the drop-off time, the official orientation program is held on Sunday, August 17.
Additional Information
Students should not make personal appointments away from the campus during the Orientation period. Classes begin Monday, August 25, 2025. If arrival must be delayed, students should make arrangements in advance with the Dean of Students Office at (909) 621-8114.
