Jeffrey Kim ‘23

Jeffrey Kim ’23 is developing academically, personally, and professionally at CMC

It didn’t take long for Jeffrey Kim ’23 (Philosophy and Public Affairs) to recognize the value of attending CMC.

“As a CMC student, it quickly becomes apparent how much everyone wants to help you on your journey,” said the sophomore with career goals to join a management consulting firm, or break into the finance industry. “Whether you are talking to alumni, faculty, or current students, all members of the CMC community truly want to uplift you, personally or professionally.”

Case in point, one of Kim’s first professors, Megan Gallagher “not only helped me grow academically but also professionally and personally,” he said. Kim was in Gallagher’s Freshman Writing Seminar: Post-Apocalyptic Humanity.  “She had a tremendous influence on how I perceive the entire faculty.”

While a senior in high school, Kim knew he “wanted to attend a college that would recognize me as an individual and help me obtain my career aspirations. After attending multiple admit days and speaking to students from a variety of colleges across the nation, I found that CMC was the only place that met my needs and offered this unique experience.”

In the Fall of 2021, Kim joined a fellowship at Teach For America as an IGNITE Fellow, juggling his responsibilities with his duties as the Vice President of the Claremont Marketing Group, as a Social Innovation Fellow at the Kravis Lab for Social Impact, and as a research assistant for the Dean of Faculty.

He is excited for the future at CMC, which Kim sees as “growing so rapidly in so many different ways. Being a part of the community is really an amazing experience.”
