Coordinating Committee
The formation of our Open Academy Coordinating Committee serves to recognize work already in progress and to formalize a college-wide dedication to Open Academy principles. We see this committee and the coordination between Academic and Student Affairs as a distinguishing feature of the CMC commitment to The Open Academy—affirming the significant role that staff, students, and faculty together play in creating and sustaining a culture of open inquiry in an environment that welcomes everyone.
This committee and its members will: provide guidance for programming initiatives; help coordinate the intersection between curricular, residential, and extracurricular elements of The Open Academy initiative; and serve as Open Academy ambassadors to the larger community. We hope that this coordinating committee might also serve as a model for other academic institutions engaged in critical planning and organizing around the urgent need to engage all members of our collegiate experience in the principles and the practices of free speech, academic freedom, and constructive dialogue.
