Currently enrolled CMC students in good academic, conduct, and financial standing who are within two requirements of degree completion, but who are unable to complete their degrees by May due to serious extenuating circumstances, may petition the Academic Standards Committee for permission to participate in the May commencement ceremony prior to satisfying all graduation requirements. Petitions must be received prior to the final day of spring semester instruction. The committee considers such petitions based on criteria similar to those required for consideration of late withdrawals and incompletes. Students approved to participate in commencement prior to degree completion will receive their degrees at the conclusion of the term in which all graduation requirements are met. Students who otherwise complete graduation requirements in the middle of an academic year (summer and fall graduates) are welcome to participate in the commencement exercise the following May. Students may participate in one commencement ceremony per degree earned at CMC.
