Statistical Association Meeting

The Southern California Chapter of the California Statistical Association will hold its annual kick-off meeting at CMC on Oct. 11 at Bauer Center. Janet Myhre, the Dengler-Dykema Professor of Mathematics and Mathematical Economics and director of CMC's Reed Institute of Decision Science, is president of the Southern California chapter.

The meeting will feature remarks from Hal Stern, professor and chair of the statistics department, University of California, Irvine, on Better Sports Through Statistics and Bayesian Statistics: How and (most important) Why?. Formerly a professor at Iowa State University and Harvard University, Stern is the author of more than 30 articles in journals including Journal of the American Statistical Association, Biometrica, Technometrics, Applied Statistics and Chance on Bayesian and Applied Statistics. The event will include student research presentations.
