Jack Pitney, the Roy P. Crocker Professor of American Politics, was interviewed by KCAL9 reporter Dave Bryan for a segment on Friday, May 20 about Assembly Speaker John Perez.
Watch the three-minute clip, "Education Under Scrutiny." Pitney comments on the inaccurate biographical information about Perez, which has portrayed him until now as a University of California, Berkeley graduate. Perez has since said that he takes "full responsibility for the mistake and has worked hard to correct the record."
"Drip by drip it erodes public confidence in public officials," Pitney said of Perez's admission, and similar revelations by other political figures, including Arnold Schwarzenegger's affair with a housekeeper.
