Professor Dan Krauss Appointed to APA Committee on Legal Issues

Dan Krauss, assistant professor of psychology, has been elected to a three-year term on the American Psychological Association's (APA) Committee on Legal Issues. The committee, comprised of eight members, covers a wide range of responsibilities, including: determining whether relevant psychological knowledge exists for legal cases, both in the Supreme Court and at the state level; advising the APA Council of Directors on submitting amicus briefs; and determining relevant psychological research in the case.
Krauss, a 2002 United States Supreme Court Judicial Fellow while on leave from CMC, holds a J.D. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology, policy and law from the University of Arizona and also serves as legal editor of the American Psychology-Law Society newsletter. His article, Deliberating on Dangerousness and Death: Jurors' Ability to Differentiate Between Expert Actuarial and Clinical Predictions of Dangerousness, was recently published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry. This semester he is teaching Forensic Psychology and Abnormal Psychology.
