What do the presidential nominee for the U.S. Supreme court, Justice David Souter, and basketball have in common? They are the subject of an opinion article written by Ralph Rossum, Salvatori Professor of Political Philosophy and American Constitutionalism at Claremont McKenna College, which appeared in the Orange County Register on Tuesday, May 26.
Rossum's article, "Comparing Sotomayor and Souter," examines the question, "Will replacing one liberal-leaning justice with another really matter?" He analyzes this question in a spirited look at Souter's history on "the bench," and Sotomayor's background and potential for being in a "starting position."
