Magnus Bernhardsson, professor of Middle Eastern history at Williams College, will visit the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum on Monday, Nov. 15 to discuss Archaeology and Nationalism in Iraq. His lecture, the first in the series The Islamic World: Past and Present, begins at 6:45 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Bernhardsson was born in Iceland and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Iceland, a master's in religion from Yale Divinity School, and a Ph.D. in history from Yale University. His first book, Reclaiming a Plundered Past: Archaeology and Nationalism in Modern Iraq, was published in 2003.
