Kenneth Novack '67 to Visit as Guest of President's Leaders Forum

Kenneth Novack '67 will visit Claremont McKenna College on Wednesday, Nov. 3, as a guest in the UNOVA President's Leaders Forum speaker series. Novack, chairman and CEO of Schnitzer Investment Corporation in Portland, Ore., will be meeting with students and faculty in small-group settings throughout the morning and afternoon.

Novack became chairman and CEO of Schnitzer Investment Corp. in 1991. Ranked as one of the best small businesses in the United States by Forbes magazine, Schnitzer is among the nation's top steel processing firms. Novack has particular expertise in manufacturing, finance, conducting business with China, shipping, real estate, and family businesses. Under his leadership, Schnitzer has experienced record profits.

Novack is the former chairman and CEO of Lasco Shipping Co., and from 1982-1991, served as senior partner in the law firm of Ball, Janik and Novack.

Married, and the father of two children, he received his JD degree from the University of Southern California and was a member of the Board of Editors of the Southern California Law Review.

In addition to his duties as chairman and CEO of Schnitzer, Novack serves on the board of directors of a number of organizations, including the Portland Business Alliance, Oregon Business Council, Columbia River Maritime Museum, and Lewis & Clark College.
