Heather Antecol, assistant professor of economics, has been awarded the European Association of Labour Economists (EALE) prize for the best paper published in the journal Labour Economics during the period 2000-2001. Antecol received her award at the EALE's 14th annual conference held Sept. 19-22 in Paris.
Antecol's paper, An Examination of Cross-Country Differences in the Gender Gap in Labor Force Participation Rates, investigates the role cultural factors play in explaining cross-country differences in female labor-force participation rates.
"Winning the EALE prize is truly a great honor, particularly for this paper, because the majority of my research focuses on gender differentials in labor market outcomes," Antecol said.
Currently in her second year of instructing at CMC, Antecol's previous positions include assistant professor of economics at Illinois State University, visiting assistant professor of economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and lecturer at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, where she earned a doctorate in economics.
