The Financial Economics Institute at CMC, in conjunction with the RAND Corporation's Center on Corporate Ethics, Law and Governance, will host a daylong conference on The Future of Securities Fraud Litigation on Friday, Feb. 8 at CGU's Burkle Building, beginning with an 8:15-8:45 a.m. continental breakfast in Jenkins Courtyard (on the south side of the building), and a welcome by President Pamela Gann.
The conference brings together leading scholars in finance and law, as well as practitioners and policymakers, to discuss the latest industry concerns and trends through presentation of accepted papers and panel discussions. Topics to be covered during the full day of sessions include, Plaintiffs, Settlements and Litigation Reform, Market Efficiency, Reliance and Damages, and Securities Litigation and Corporate Governance.
The conference will include a luncheon at the Athenaeum featuring a keynote address by John C. Coffee, the Adolf A. Berle Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. Professor Coffee is an expert in securities regulation, class actions, criminal law, and white-collar crime, and has been recognized by the National Law Journal as one of "The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in the United States."
An afternoon panel discussion from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., on Current Issues in Securities Fraud Litigation, will be moderated by Eric Landau, partner, Securities and Shareholder Litigation Group, Jones Day. Featured panelists include:

The Financial Economics Institute at CMC was established in 2004 to foster financial economics education and research in the context of the liberal arts environment at Claremont McKenna College. In addition to the Conference, the FEI offers a sequence of courses in financial economics, support for student and faculty research, including state-of-the-art databases and a student internship program.
