Claremont McKenna College Contracts with Bon Appetit to Direct Food Service; Employees to Join Claremont McKenna College Family

Bon Appetit, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based company, begins the new academic year as Claremont McKenna College's food service provider in Collins Dining Hall. Bon App?tit is a quality corporate food service company specializing in freshness and innovation whose other high profile clients include The Getty Center, University of Redlands, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

In the new agreement with Bon App?tit, food service workers will be employed by Claremont McKenna College directly. The College has retained thirty-five of the food service employees from the previous vendor and has hired five additional workers. They receive competitive wages and are eligible for all employee benefits. In its previous food service agreement, CMC's food service workers were employed by the food service contractor, and not the College itself.

"We are very pleased to have these forty fine individuals as part of the Claremont McKenna College family and we anticipate an excellent collaboration with Bon App?tit," stated College President Pamela B. Gann. "This new agreement not only continues the tradition of providing exceptional service to our students, it also extends our excellent employment environment to all these workers."

Claremont McKenna College is joined by Pitzer College, another undergraduate institution in The Claremont Colleges consortium, in contracting services with Bon App?tit and hiring their food service workers directly.

Claremont McKenna College is a highly selective independent liberal arts college educating leaders in business and public affairs. A residential campus, CMC enrolls nearly 1,000 students and is a member of The Claremont Colleges.
