Anson Chan, former chief secretary for administration of the government of Hong Kong, will speak at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Her lecture, The Future of Hong Kong, is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come basis. The Athenaeum is located at 385 E. Eighth St., at the intersection of Eighth and Amherst streets in Claremont.
As chief secretary of the Hong Kong government, Chan acted as a principal advisor to the chief executive and head of Hong Kong's 190,000-member civil service. The first woman to hold the position, Chan is the coauthor of Wings Over Hong Kong (1998).
