Khurana, with camp participants
847 Hoops founder Aron Khurana '09, who created a free basketball camp for underprivileged Chicago youth, has just been profiled in the NCAA's "40-in-40" series.
During a yearlong celebration of its anniversary, NCAA.org is posting 40 weekly profiles of student-athletes who attended member institutions during the past 40 years. The project "seeks to bring to life the philosophy and ideals of Division III by featuring individuals who have exemplified the division's attributes of proportion, comprehensive learning, passion, responsibility, sportsmanship and citizenship,” both on campus and in their careers or avocations. While at CMC, the 6'3 Khurana played guard and forward on the CMS basketball team.
His 847 Hoops, which also was profiled in CMC magazine, was a way to combine his passion for the sport with his desire to help kids build confidence, basketball skills, and direct them away from the gangs that affect some Chicago neighborhoods.
