Forums, Meetings, and Workshops

  • President Chodosh extended an invitation to all students to come to his office on Nov. 10, 2015, to share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions related to diversity and inclusion at CMC. Approximately 40 students took part.

  • Faculty meetings were called to discuss students’ call to action and the role of the faculty in addressing issues of campus climate, especially as related to the academic experience, on Nov. 10, 11 and 16. The issues were also discussed at the regularly scheduled faculty meeting on Dec. 11.

  • Moderated by the Dean of the Faculty and other members of senior staff, the College hosted open forums for all staff to discuss the student demonstrations, the call to action, the historical context of the concerns, and the implications of the institution’s response on Nov. 12 and 17 and Dec. 18.

  • The College hosted a community-wide Athenaeum dinner and dialogue on Nov. 13.

  • The PSR Committee on Campus Climate hosted a community forum with a panel of students involved in the November demonstrations to clarify the timeline of the events leading to the students’ call to action, to explain the concept of a resource center, and to facilitate a Q & A session welcoming all perspectives on Nov. 20.

  • The Dean of the Faculty hosted a faculty roundtable discussion on free speech and academic freedom on Dec. 9.
