Nominations Sought for Exceptional Service Awards

Nominations for the College's first annual Exceptional Service Awards, honoring CMC staff members for exemplary leadership, commitment, teamwork and overall excellence impacting the entire CMC campus community, are being accepted through Friday, April 14.

Up to two Exceptional Service Awards will be presented annually to employees who best represent the Claremont McKenna College ideals of leadership, commitment, teamwork, and excellence. The awards of $1,000 each are open to all exempt and non-exempt staff (except members of senior staff) who have been with the College for at least 12 months. The awards recognize the vital contributions that staff members make to the education of students and the quality of the CMC community. Awards will be presented at the Spring Staff Luncheon on May 1, and honorees also will be recognized at the College's opening convocation in August.

Nominations may be made by any member of the CMC community, including students, faculty, and staff.

To nominate an individual for an award, nominators should provide a written statement of approximately 250 words or fewer, focusing on the nominee's accomplishments in the areas of leadership, commitment, teamwork, and overall excellence. Specific examples of exceptional achievements that deserve recognition are encouraged, and statements should include the nominator's name and contact information.

Submissions should be sent to: Georgette DeVeres, associate vice president for admission and financial aid and 2006 chair of the Exceptional Service Awards Committee. Nominations may be sent by e-mail, inter-office, or mail to 890 Columbia Avenue, Claremont, 91711. Nominations must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, April 14.

A selection committee appointed by President Pamela Gann will review the nominations. Committee members include: Georgette DeVeres, chair; Polly Baker, administrative assistant, Reed Institute for Applied Statistics; P. Edward Haley, the W.M. Keck Foundation Chair of International Strategic Studies; Brandi Hoffine '06, class president; Kristine Iotte '06; W. Torrey Sun, vice president for student affairs; Marsha Tudor, assistant director, facilities and campus services; and Chris Wiedey, director of foundation and corporate relations.
