The 17th annual Kravis-de Roulet Leadership ConferenceThe Early Seeds of Leadership: Growing the Next Generation of Leaderswill be held this weekend on campus, beginning with a private kickoff dinner on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, for speakers and invited guests. The conference then resumes at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24 with a registration/continental breakfast on the Pickford patio, followed immediately by President Gann's welcoming remarks in Pickford Auditorium.
The day's panel of speakers will discuss the many developmental influences on our next generation of leaders, through such topics as nature vs. nurture, young leaders in the early childhood classroom, families and mentors, college student leadership-identity development, and sports and leadership development. Featured speaker Howard Gardner, the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, will present the lunchtime keynote address at the Athenaeum, on the topic of Positioning Future Leaders on the Good Work Track.

Conference fee is $65, or $10 for students. Lunch reservations are full; however, seating is available for the speaker presentation. The Kravis Leadership Institute's mission of playing an active role in the development of leadership competency is realized through a number of programs in education, research, and the community. The Institute sponsors a sound educational program of leadership studies at CMC and also hosts local workshops, national conferences and speaker series, with a focus on outreach programs that enhance the leadership capabilities of the larger community.
