Vossmeyer, an Associate Professor of Economics, George R. Roberts Fellow, and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, was recognized for her research on financial crises and econometrics.

William R. “Bill” Rothacker ’73 P’09 P’17 said his family is proud to leave a lasting mark on CMC by advancing interdisciplinary education and ensuring future generations benefit from innovative approaches to finance, policy, and data-driven decision-making.

“The topic of gratitude occurred to me when I was asked why we were motivated to establish this chair,” said Rothacker, who is founder and chairman of  Cadence Capital Investments. “Supporting education is one of our fundamental values. There's no question about it; I am personally indebted to CMC (because) this is where my basic foundation was established. CMC’s liberal arts approach, with a mathematical and science approach, is really unusual, and it's been very, very good for me.”

Vossmeyer’s work, which includes studying emergency liquidity and recapitalization programs and interbank networks, has led to insights into bank failure and the resuscitation of the financial system after a crisis. At the Ath event, she detailed the importance of studying economic history to improve our understanding of how to fight future financial crises. Vossmeyer is highly respected for her development of econometric methodologies that incorporate regulator and firm decision structures to uncover answers to financial stability questions.

Heather Antecol, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty and James G. Boswell Professor of Economics praised Vossmeyer’s work and the development of her students. “Angela's contributions to the field of economics here at CMC and beyond have been outstanding, and her commitment to the training and development of her students is exemplary.”
