The Bird is the Word
at 12th Annual ROTC
"Turkey Shoot"

Yes, people will be shooting live ammo, but rest assured not a single turkey will be harmed in the making of the College's 12th annual ROTC Thanksgiving "Turkey Shoot" from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at the ROTC indoor shooting range in Bauer Center.
Open annually to students, faculty, and staff of Claremont McKenna College, this competition involves no fowl playbut instead, relies on paper targets.
According to U.S. Army Master Sgt. Darrin L. Carter, senior military instructor in the department, the turkey shoot is intended to "build and maintain cohesion" within the military science department at CMC.
Participants use .22 caliber handguns with real bullets to shoot the targets. A perfect score is 100, Carter says. Top prize is a frozen turkey, and second and third prizes this year are a ham and Cornish game hen, respectively.
