Salvatori Conference on Leo Strauss, Oct. 19-20

The Henry Salvatori Center for the Study of Individual Freedom in the World will host a two-day conference on Leo Strauss and his impact in the political realm.

The public is invited to two events on Thursday, Oct. 19:

11: 45 a.m., Oct. 19: Professor Harry Jaffa on Strauss, Locke, and the American Founding. Jaffa, a distinguished fellow at the Claremont Institute and professor emeritus of government at Claremont McKenna College and the Claremont Graduate School, is the author of several books, including A New Birth of Freedom: Abraham Lincoln and the Coming of the Civil War.

4 p.m., Oct. 19: William Kristol on The Problem of Leo Strauss: Philosophy and Politics. Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, is a regular contributor to FoxNews, editor and co-editor of numerous books, including The Weekly Standard: A Reader, Bush v. Gore, and Educating the Prince, and serves on the boards of the Henry Salvatori Center, the Manhattan Institute, and the John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs.

The Henry Salvatori Center for the Study of Individual Freedom in the Modern World is Claremont McKenna College's oldest research institute. It examines questions of political philosophy as they bear on the life of contemporary America.
