Nobel Laureate Desmond Tutu Speaks March 30

Desmond Tutu, Nobel Laureate and the former Archbishop of Capetown, will speak on Tuesday, March 30 on Bridging the Chasm Between Black and White. The lecture will take place at 7 p.m. at Bridges Auditorium and is sponsored by the CMC Res Publica Society and the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. The event is free and open to the public. The former chair, Truth and Reconciliation Committee, Archbishop Tutu is the author of Crying in the Wilderness: Struggle for Justice in South Africa, and The Rainbow People of God: The Making of a Peaceful Revolution. He currently serves as Chancellor of the University of the Western Cape.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, and in addition has received the Order for Meritorious Service Award presented by President Nelson Mandela; the Archbishop of Canterbury's Award for Outstanding Service to the Anglican Communion; and the Martin Luther King, Jr., Non-Violent Peace Prize.
