The President’s Leadership Council (PLC) invites parents to play a critical role in shaping the future of CMC. Through contributions of expertise, networking, and financial support, PLC members help advance key initiatives, including the integration of science and computation into our liberal arts education, enhancing our Open Academy programs, expanding financial aid and scholarships, supporting sponsored internships, and building a strong community that fosters student success.
Through volunteering, philanthropy, or general engagement with the College, our parents contribute in significant ways to the success of CMC. In response to the external conditions, future trends, and structural challenges facing higher education, the College has pursued and achieved ambitious goals, such as:
- The full integration of science and computation in our singular approach to liberal arts education;
- Further enhancement of programming at all levels, including a focus for incoming students on The Open Academy, which reinforces CMC Commitments to Freedom of Expression, Viewpoint Diversity, and Constructive Dialogue;
- The growth of student opportunities through financial support for financial aid and scholarships;
- Expansion of our Sponsored Internships & Experiences program, with a focus on summer experiences for our first- and second-year students;
- Strong advising from the first-year of college through the expansion of student career networks;
- Targeted assistance to remove additional financial barriers beyond the cost of attendance; and
- A focus on community that builds social capital and mobility for students from families with fewer resources.
We invite leading parents of CMC students to join us in our efforts and contribute their expertise, professional networks, and resources to CMC’s institutional funding priorities through the President’s Leadership Council (PLC).
