Taking the Measure of Xi's China
Lucy Hornby covered China for 15 years, most recently serving as deputy bureau chief in Beijing for the Financial Times. She has reported from every Chinese province and region for the FT and Reuters, on topics ranging from elite politics to the trade war and environmental pollution. She originally moved to China with Princeton in Asia, and taught English for two years in Wuhan, an industrial city. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
In 2018, Lucy led the FT investigation into the ownership of HNA, one of China’s biggest companies, which won the Society of Publishers in Asia’s award for excellence in business reporting. Her coverage has won numerous other awards. Hornby is currently a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard.
