Latest Among Fall Rankings Round-up

U.S. News and World Report today released its latest edition of The Best Colleges 2013. Claremont McKenna College is ranked No. 10 overall among the nation's 251 liberal arts colleges, tied in the 10th position with Vassar College.
Other key criteria rankings this year for CMC are: No. 4 in Faculty Resources, No. 5 in High School Counselors Rankings (along with Vassar and Williams colleges), and 20th in Alumni Giving. In the category of colleges and universities offering the best academic value, U.S. News ranked CMC No. 13 among liberal arts colleges for Great Schools at Great Prices, and No. 13 among liberal arts colleges for Least Debt.
The complete rankings and methodologies can be viewed online. The guidebook will be on newsstands Tuesday, September 18.
Overall rankings for sister institutions within The Claremont Colleges include: Pomona College #4 (tied with Middlebury), Harvey Mudd #12, Scripps #24, and Pitzer #43.
From a broader rankings perspective, Claremont McKenna College recently was ranked No. 1 in a brand new category by Princeton Review: Their Students Love These Colleges. The ranking appears in Princeton Review's 2013 edition of Best 377 Colleges and represents the opinions of more than 122,000 surveyed students who were asked whether they were satisfied with their choice of college. (Watch CMC's mention on the Today show.) Other high marks from Princeton Review included No. 3 Best Career Services, No. 3 Best-Run Colleges, No. 4 Most Accessible Professors, No. 5 Best Quality of Life, No. 5 Professors Get High Marks, and No. 6 Happiest Students.
CMC also ranked No. 17 in a new category for Forbes: The Most Entrepreneurial Colleges in America finishing between Swarthmore (#16) and Amherst (#18) colleges.
In rankings brand-new to the college ratings arena, CMC also earned noteworthy attention this year from Alumni Factor (https://www.alumnifactor.com/). As the name implies, Alumni Factor's new college guide comes from a slightly different perspectivedrawing on the opinions of alumni from 177 schools, in areas such as financial success, overall happiness, career preparation and more.
Alumni Factor rankings are divided into four key categories (with sub-categories for each): College Experience, Overall Assessment, Financial Success, and Overall Happiness. Claremont McKenna College ranked No. 1 in Financial Success among liberal arts colleges, and No. 2 in that category, overall. For that ranking, Alumni Factor used four measures: weighted average income of graduate households; percent of graduates with "high income" households (above $150,000 annually); weighted average net worth of graduate households; and percent of graduates with "high net worth" households (above $1 million). Within those sub-ranking measures, CMC also ranked No. 1 both among liberal arts colleges, and overall, for "income per household."
While the College finished strong in the Financial Success category, it also did well when it comes to the happiness factor. Much like the Princeton Review rankings indicate above, CMC alumni also agree that the College is a happy place. Alumni Factor ranked CMC No. 9 among liberal arts colleges in Overall Happiness, and 13th overall, among the 177 schools.
