Claremont McKenna College is among the 63 colleges and universities just named by U.S. News & World Report as meeting students' full financial need. Determining just how generous a college will be with any given student starts with a formula-that is, calculating your expected family contribution (or EFC) using information you provide on the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA, U.S. News reports, takes into account your family's earning power, size, and savings, among other factors. Once that is figured out, your "need" is basically the difference between the cost of attending the school and what your EFC is.
"Claremont McKenna College maintains as one of its top priorities student affordability," says Georgette DeVeres, associate vice president of admission and financial aid. "This commitment is supported by our Board of Trustees and our alumni who have provided very generous support to CMC's financial aid program. We are pleased to be recognized as one of the 63 most generous colleges and universities."
The findings by U.S. News also made headlines with CBS' Money Watch.
