The Kravis Leadership Institute will host an intensive pre-semester, noncredit seminar on leadership issues in the nonprofit sector from Jan. 16 to Jan. 19, 2008 at the Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.
Goals of the seminar, planned and organized by KLI Assistant Director for Leadership Programs Kevin Arnold, and leadership programs coordinator Jessica Briggs '03, include educating students about starting and leading nonprofit organizations, and exposing participants to a variety of perspectives on the nonprofit sector.
Students will visit the Weingart Center, City Hall, the Center for Nonprofit Management, and the Los Angeles Central Library as part of this hands-on program. Tim Delaney, founder of the Center for Leadership, Ethics and Public Service in Phoenix, Ariz., will return to facilitate the seminar for a second time.
Several CMC alumni also will join the group throughout their time Downtown, including Lindsay McHugh '99, project specialist with World Vision; Paul Tepper '72, executive director of the Weingart Center Association Development Corporation; and Paul Schultz '85, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles all of them sharing their experiences and knowledge of the nonprofit sector.
