The Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at CMC has established a new internship program for international relations majors. The Bill Rood Internship in International Security offers a $5,000 stipend and will allow one student to undertake a summer internship at the NATO headquarters in Brussels or a similar agency specializing in international security issues.
The Rood Internship honors Professor Harold William Rood's invaluable contributions to CMC. Professor Rood was known for his brilliance and dedication to teaching during his 40 years at CMC. He mentored a large number of CMC international relations majors who went on to become outstanding leaders in a variety of fields. Rood passed away on October 6, 2011.
All international relations majors are eligible for the Rood internship. Interested students should first apply for the NATO internship through the consortium's center for EU studies (located in Scripps), and then the Keck Center's summer internship. The winner of the NATO internship will be awarded the Rood Internship automatically. If no CMC student wins the NATO internship, then the Rood Internship will be awarded through the Keck Center's summer internship program.
The Rood Internship is funded by the Keck Center, partially through the generous donations of Professor Rood's former students.
