Hometown: Shenyang, China

Major: Economics with a Financial Economics Sequence

Campus Involvements: Lingdaoli Scholar, Robert Day Scholar, Student Investment Fund, Silicon Valley Program, and Outdoor Initiative

Why I chose CMC: I wanted the liberal arts education experience with small classes and strong community bonds, but I also wanted to prepare for the real world with abundant career resources and mentorship. CMC offers an unparalleled combination of both.

Most memorable CMC moment: On Outdoor Initiative’s Thanksgiving camping trip to Death Valley, I saw the Milky Way for the first time. We lit a campfire, and each of us shared what we were thankful for. So many touching memories of CMC donors, faculty, alums, and classmates came rushing back all at once. In that moment, I realized that without CMC, I would never have seen those beautiful stars or had those life-changing opportunities. I can’t imagine how much I would have missed if I hadn’t chosen CMC. With tremendous gratitude, I want to pass on the kindness and responsible leadership that CMC has given me.

Favorite spot on campus: The study room at Bauer is my favorite because working under the gaze of the presidents on the walls makes me super productive.

Letícia (Lele) Murer ’26

Hometown: Santa Maria, Brazil

Major: Economics & Film Studies dual

Campus Involvements: Office of Admission Tour Guide, I-Connect, College Programming Board, SOURCE, RTA, Appel Fellow, and Robert Day Scholar

Why CMC: I chose Claremont McKenna because of its supportive and tight-knit community that makes me feel at home, even though I’m about 10,000 km away from my family. I was also drawn to CMC’s emphasis on learning for the sake of doing and the countless opportunities for students to have hands-on experiences beyond the classroom. All of these things, along with its excellent liberal arts curriculum, make this school a very special place, and I feel very lucky to call it my alma mater!

Most memorable CMC moment: My favorite CMC memory is going on a sunrise hot air balloon trip with the College Programming Board (CPB)—for free! It was an experience I will cherish forever.

Favorite spot on campus: Kravis Center terraces!
