Water Polo Tournament Set for Oct. 7-8

The CMS and Pomona-Pitzer water polo programs will co-host the 13th annual Claremont Convergence tournament from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, with events split between Claremont McKenna College's Axelrood pool and Pomona College's Haldeman pool.
The event will feature a majority of teams from the SCIAC conference, including the University of Redlands, Whittier and Occidental colleges, the University of La Verne, and California Lutheran University. It also will feature Chaminade University of Honolulu, BYU-Hawaii, Santa Clara, Brown, Chapman, Harvard, George Washington, and Johns Hopkins universities, and Washington and Jefferson College.
CMS will play teams from Cal Lutheran, Washington and Jefferson, Santa Clara, and Johns Hopkins.
"It should be a great two days of water polo," said head men's and women's water polo coach Tim Settem. "Many of the games will be very competitive. I expect that the East Coast teams will arrive with something to prove and eager to win, so I won't make any predictions. But we as a team hope to perform well. I look forward to playing to the best of our ability, and hopefully ending the weekend with several wins."
