Vincent Cheng P'06On Campus ForPresident's Leaders Forum

Vincent Cheng, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of Hang Seng Bank, and his spouse, Mariana, will be on campus Jan. 30 as participants in the President's Leaders Forum, a program bringing distinguished alumni and friends of the College back to campus to meet with students and faculty in an informal setting.

In a presentation to students, he will discuss "China - The Emerging World Economic Powerhouse and Its Implications," with comments on China's economic development since 1949, its economic reform since 1978, its achievements and unfinished tasks, and its economic relationship with the United States and the rest of the world.

Cheng holds degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Auckland in New Zealand, and is active in business and government. He is a director of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, a member of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Chairman of the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission. Mariana Cheng serves as a director of seven major nonprofit organizations, including the Medical Council of Hong Kong, Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board, and Operation Concern. Their daughter, Simone, is a CMC freshman.

Founded in 1933, Hang Seng Bank is the second-largest locally incorporated bank in Hong Kong, with more than 7,900 employees.
