Susanne Mahoney Filback Chairs CLASIC

Susanne Mahoney Filback, associate dean and director of career services, has been elected the executive chair of the Board for the Consortium of Liberal Arts Schools and Independent Colleges. CLASIC is a professional organization that includes members from 28 small, private Southern California colleges and universities. Filback was elected by the membership of CLASIC to a two-year term that began in June.

"Any opportunity to serve a great organization like CLASIC is a great benefit not only to me but to CMC as well," says Filback, who has been at CMC since 1998.

CLASIC was established in 1979 by 14 colleges, including Claremont McKenna and the other Claremont Colleges, to share resources and best practices among private colleges, promote liberal arts-focused education, and provide professional development for staff members. Members have three annual meetings, which focus on special topics and programs as well as matters of shared interest to attendees. As chair, Filback will preside at all meetings of the executive board and at all three of the membership's annual meetings.

Filback's tenure with CLASIC will create opportunities for high-visibility representation of CMC at meetings of peer colleges in California, and also at larger national and international conferences, where CLASIC sponsors programs and panels to raise the visibility of its members and interests.
