Retirement Party to Honor Nicole Hamon

A retirement party honoring Nicole Hamon, director of the Office of Off-Campus Study, will be held this afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. in Founder's Room, Bauer Center.

Hamon, who was hired by the College as Off-Campus Study director in 1990, will retire at the end of June, following nearly two decades of service that has included sending hundreds of students to Washington, D.C., for the Washington Program, and more than 2,100 CMCers abroad for enriched studies.

According to the College's Study Abroad Web site, nearly half of the Class of 2007 spent a semester or full year studying abroad.

"Study abroad allows students to expand their education and to acquire an international perspective needed to function in a global society," the Web site reports. The site also leaves visitors with a quote from writer Louis-Charles Fougeret de Monbron:

The world is a book, he who stays at home reads only one page.
