Nicholas Warner, Professor of Literature, has been named an Associate Dean of the Faculty, effective July 1, 2011. As one of two associate deans, Warner will focus on the development and implementation of the College's curricular efforts. Associate Dean Hilary Appel will continue to direct the College's faculty and research development efforts.
Warner is the author of Spirits of America: Intoxication in Nineteenth-Century American Literature (named as a Choice Outstanding Academic Book), as well as of numerous articles and reviews. He joined the CMC faculty in 1980 and his chief research interests lie in 18th and 19th century British, American, and Russian literature. He has also published on the topic of leadership in literature and film. Warner received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and his B.A. from Stanford University.
"During his time at CMC, Nick Warner has demonstrated that he is an effective and hard-working colleague," states Gregory Hess, dean of the faculty. "He is well-respected and well-liked by students, and he has won the Huntoon teaching award seven times. We look forward to Nick joining our office."
Warner replaces Professor Lisa Cody who, upon the completion of her duties in the Dean of the Faculty's office, will be on sabbatical during AY 2011-2012.
