New Exchange Program Set for Hong Kong

The College, in conjunction with Asia Financial Group and its executive director Stephen Tan P'06, is initiating a new student-exchange program with the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), beginning in the academic year 2007-2008. Students will be able to spend a semester or a year in residence at the university, with a reciprocal arrangement for CUHK students to study at CMC.

The agreement with CUHK affords CMC students the unique opportunity to study in one of the top financial centers in the world without prior knowledge of the Chinese language, notes Kristen Mallory, assistant director of off-campus study. Students participating in the program will study Chinese and enroll in three to four courses taught in English. In return, CUHK students will have the opportunity to enroll in CMC courses and participate in extracurricular activities while experiencing life at a liberal arts college.

An advantage of the exchange is that students at each institution will be able to get to know each other and ask questions before their upcoming semester abroad. In addition, CMC students are eligible to compete for a $2,500 merit award from the Asia Financial Group to study at CUHK.

An information session for the Chinese University of Hong Kong exchange will be held at 4:30 pm on Monday, Oct. 9, in Roberts North, room 204. Alumni of the program, and one student from CUHK,will be present at the informational meeting.
