Michelle Shocked To Perform Benefit Concert For Save Africa's Children

Singer/songwriter and activist Michelle Shocked will perform a benefit concert for Save Africa's Children at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, at Seeley Mudd Theatre at the Claremont School of Theology. The concert is sponsored by the Pan-African Seminarian Association of the Claremont School of Theology in conjunction with Intercollegiate Women's Studies of the Claremont Colleges, with suggested donation of $5.

Save Africa's Children is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization focused on helping the millions of children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. Darrell Smith '74, former alumnus trustee and past president of the CMC Alumni Association, is the organization's executive director.

Michelle Shocked, active in promoting nonviolence in the environmental and global justice movements in addition to her work with Save Africa's Children, has garnered critical acclaim since the release of her first album, Texas Campfire Tapes.
