Meron Benvenisti In Tuesday Lecture

Former Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem Meron Benvenisti will present his lecture The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Ferocious yet Manageable at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.

In addition to serving as deputy mayor and city councilor of Jerusalem, Benvenisti has also enjoyed a distinguished career as a scholar, politician, journalist, and administrator. Most recently he has directed the Morning After project at the Truman Institute, Kennedy School at Harvard University. His numerous published books and articles include Sacred Landscape: The Buried History of the Holy Land 1948-1998 (2000), Jerusalem, City of Stone (1996), and Intimate Enemies: Jews and Arabs in a Shared Land (1995).

Benvenisti's appearance is sponsored by the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies, the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, and the Dean of Faculty's office. The lecture is free and open to the public on a first-come basis. For more information contact the Athenaeum at 621-8244.
