Leadership Retreat for
Sophomores: Aug. 27-30

The Kravis Leadership Institute and the Dean of Students Office will host its second annual leader development retreat for all incoming sophomores on Wednesday, Aug. 27 through Saturday, Aug. 30. Called the Sophomore Leadership Experience, the program includes both on- and off-campus activities designed to promote personal and group leadership skills.
Participants will arrive on campus Wednesday, Aug. 27 to kick off the program during dinner with Assistant Dean of Students & Dean of Returning Students David "Fid" Castro, then depart the following morning for the Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center by Big Bear Lake for two days.
Assistant Director for Leadership Programs Jessica Briggs '03 says participants should be ready for a program that will offer them greater insight into their personal preferences, leadership skills and goals, along with a better understanding of team dynamics, communication and motivation.
The program provides four full days of leadership discussion, hands-on activities and a day on low and high ropes courses operated by Lodestone Adventures, Inc. The program concludes on campus with a panel discussion with Vice President for Student Affairs Jeff Huang, Registrar Elizabeth Morgan, CMS Director of Athletics Mike Sutton and Associate Director of the Kravis Leadership Institute Susan Murphy.
