The Kravis Leadership Institute will host Leadership Day 2010: Entrepreneurship and You on September 29, 2010 with a focus on social and business entrepreneurship. Students, faculty and staff are all welcome to participate in Leadership Day events.
Since its inception in 2007, Leadership Day has provided students, faculty, and staff with interactive and educational on-campus leadership opportunities by bringing leadership speakers to campus and offering opportunities for discussion and learning. Leadership Day is also an opportunity for students to learn more about the Kravis Leadership Institute and the Leadership Studies Sequence.
"Leadership Day 2010 is a wonderful event for CMC students to network with entrepreneurs in the business and social sectors, as well as learn what it takes to become an entrepreneur," states Dr. Sherylle Tan, KLI Interim Administrative Director and Associate Director of Research and Internships. "This event is just one way KLI offers CMC students unique opportunities to develop as responsible and innovative leaders throughout the academic year."
Leadership Day 2010 will begin with a luncheon presentation, followed by two student workshops, and culminating with dinner and a panel. Luncheon speakers include:
Jay Conger, CMC Professor andnew KLI Institute Chair;
SunilRajaraman '01,President and CEO of Scripped Inc.;
Steven Eggert '82 (pending acceptance), Managing Partner of St. Anton Partners, LLC, CMC Trustee and KLI Board Member;
Jack Edwards, Senior Advisor with Ashoka, and KLI Board Member; and
Kara Andrade, Ashoka Fellow in Guatemala.
After the luncheon presentations, the speakers will facilitate two workshops; the first focused on business entrepreneurship, followed by a workshop on social entrepreneurship.
Prior to dinner, KLI will host a reception for new KLI Institute Chair Jay Conger from 4:30-5:30 pm at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum. Dinner will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by a leadership panel discussing entrepreneurship across public, private and social sectors. A related event will be held at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management in the morning. Jack Edwards and Kara Andrade, participants in the Leadership Day luncheon and workshops, will host "A Morning Dialogue on Social Entrepreneurship" from 8:30-10:00 am.
