Korean Ambassador to the United States, Sung Chul Yang, will lecture on Building on the Momentum for the Korean Peninsula at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. The lecture is free and open to the public, and seating is available on a first-come basis. The Athenaeum is located at 385 East Eighth Street, at the intersection of Eighth and Amherst Streets in Claremont.
The ambassador will discuss the strategic, political, and economic aspects of re-linking the inter-Korean railroad tracks and road across the Demilitarized Zone and of resuming U.S.-North Korea and Japan-North Korea dialogues. He has served as vice chair of the Unification and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Korean National Assembly and as chairman of the International Cooperation Committee for the National Congress for New Politics.
He has also taught at several universities, including the University of Kentucky and Indiana University, as well as Kyung Hee University and Seoul National University in Korea.
His lecture is sponsored by the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies.
