Carol Welch, coordinator of U.S. efforts for the United Nations' Millennium Campaign, will be the featured guest for the Oct. 21 Thursday Lunch and Conversation series, sponsored by International Place of The Claremont Colleges. The event, to be held at CMC's McKenna Auditorium, begins at 12:15 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door.
Welch's work with the United Nations' Millenium Campaign serves to promote public understanding and awareness of internationally adopted Millenium Development Goals (MDGs), and the role of citizens, constituencies, and governments in meeting them.
Welch is former director of the international program at Friends of the Earth, where she oversaw campaigns on international financial institutions, trade, and corporate accountability. She received her bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and earned her master's from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
