The William Wagner memorial picnic area at the northeast corner of Zinda Field was the sight of this year's CMS homecoming tailgate party, where alumni and parents mingled over savory BBQ and family fun before the big football game against the Chapman Panthers.
A wide array of activities was scheduled around the main event including alumni basketball games and "friendly" flag football. Other varsity athletics including the SCIAC Men's Soccer championship captured the attention of students and visitors as well and campus spirits where high as everyone enjoyed a beautiful afternoon in Claremont. The annual tradition of coming together in the fall and getting reacquainted has always been at the center of homecoming and this year was no different.
Although the Stags football team's talent and efforts have not been reflected in their record this year, the heart of the team still beats strong. This Saturday the team will be marching down Sixth Street to meet their biggest conference rival Pomona-Pitzer (also 0-6) and they will not be marching alone. The entire Stags football community (alumni, parents, friends, fans) will be meeting at Ducey Gym and accompanying the team on their way to victory at Pomona's Merritt field. Post game activities are also planned for the season's grand finally.
It was superb as always to have parents and alumni come together for a reminiscent taste of campus life over homecoming weekend. Go Stags!
