Homecoming 2007 will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. Admission office college resource fair at Butler Plaza, in front of Bauer Center, followed at 9:30 by the CMC Alumni Association Board of Directors meeting in the Claremont Boulevard building, 400 N. Claremont Blvd.
This year's Homecoming celebration also marks the 50th anniversary of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps athletics. A men's alumni basketball game will be held at 10 a.m. in Ducey Gymnasium (contact: CMS coach Ken Scalmanini, 909-607-7153), and, also at that time, a Stags alumni flag football game will be held on Zinda Field (contact: Josh Walter, 909-621-8902). Those events will be followed at 11 a.m. by the CMS swimming and diving alumni meet (contact: CMS head swimming coach Charles Griffiths, charles.griffiths@cms.claremont.edu), featuring several short relay events matching odd-year graduates and current team members against even-year grads and swimmers. (Warm-ups begin at 10:30 a.m.)
From 11 a.m. to noon, the Office of Admission is offering a campus tour from Butler Plaza, in front of Bauer Center. (More information: 909-621-8088.)
This year's Homecoming lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Pritzlaff Field, celebrating the athletic department's 50th anniversary with opportunities to reflect on the program with Director of Athletics Emeritus Bill Arce and Director of CMS Athletics Mike Sutton '76. (Reservations for the lunch are required: 909-607-6248.)
At noon, an Athenas alumni basketball game will be held in Ducey Gymnasium (contact: coach Jodi Burton, 909-607-3139), followed at 1 p.m. by the Big Game: CMS football vs. Pomona-Pitzer, on CMC's Zinda Field. (An inflatable jumper will be on the field all day for those bringing young children to the festivities.)
Daylong activities will continue into the evening with the CMS Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame reception and banquet at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum, honoring inductees Robin Jarvi '69 (football/baseball), David Tempkin '72 (swimming/water polo), Lance Au '91 (tennis), Diane Lindflott '89 (basketball), and Jason Rhodes (HMC '94, track & field/cross-country). The 5 p.m. reception will be followed by dinner at 6.
Concluding CMC's annual Homecoming at 9 p..m. will be Monte Carlo Night, Collins Dining Hall. This year's theme, Claremont on Ice, features a mock casino, live band, and ice sculptures. Tickets will be available at the door.
