At Snack to the Future

Snack on Sunday returns for an evening this coming Jan. 31, under the moniker of Snack to the Future, and celebrating the thousands of alumni, parents, and friends of Claremont McKenna College who pledge their philanthropic support each year. The event will be held from 10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. in McKenna Auditorium and is open to all CMC alumni, parents, staff, and friends of the College.
Nationwide, colleges and universities are seeking to raise awareness among students about the impact philanthropy has on their educationhoping to instill in undergraduates a sense of gratitude to alumni, as well as encourage their future support of their respective alma maters.
Toward that end, a number of schools have employed a celebration meant to educate students on the portion of their education actually covered by tuition. Typically, this is accomplished by hosting the event on the date when tuition would run out, were it spent first.
CMC's iteration, "Snack to the Future," jointly sponsored by the Office of Annual Giving and ASCMC, is intended in its inaugural year to start raising awareness among undergraduates about the importance of alumni giving. (Visit the event on Facebook.)
Along with food (including items from many of the students' favorite off-campus indulgences), festivities on Sunday include a Snack to the Future T-shirt giveaway.
