Convocation Set for
Tuesday, Sept. 2

Opening Convocation ceremonies for the 2008-09 academic year will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at McKenna Auditorium, with a welcome from President Pamela Gann and remarks from featured speaker Gary Hamburg, the Behr Professor of Intellectual and Cultural History, who will discuss "The Telescopic Eye."
In order to encourage student participation in convocation, classes scheduled at 11 a.m. and noon on Tuesday have been canceled.
Tuesday's ceremonies will be preceded at 10:15 a.m. with the dedication of the Ryal Residential Lab, located at the north end of Phillips Hall. Officiating the dedication will be Ruth Ann and Ryal Poppa '57 GP'08. The first 200 Ryal Lab dedication attendees each will receive a 1-gigabyte flash drive.
