Convocation Set for Aug. 29

The 60th Annual Convocation ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in McKenna Auditorium. The ceremony will welcome new and returning students, staff, and faculty to campus, with special remarks from President Pamela Gann and a keynote address by John K. Roth, the Edward J. Sexton Professor of Philosophy and director of the Center for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights. Roth, retiring from CMC at the end of the fall semester, will discuss The Hurricane We're In.

Ceremonies also include recognition of staff and faculty with 25, 30, 40, and 55 years of service to the College. Faculty awards also will be presented by Vice President and Dean of the Faculty Gregory Hess, honoring the following recipients: Professor Roth, the Glenn R. Huntoon Award for Superior Teaching; Ronald K. Teeples, the Boswell Professor of Economics, the Roy P. Crocker Award for Merit; Asuman Aksoy, professor of mathematics, the G. David Huntoon Senior Teaching Award, and Robert Faggen, the Barton Evans and H. Andrea Neves Professor of Literature, the Presidential Award for Merit.

Lunch at Collins Dining Hall will follow immediately afterward.
