Comedian Lewis Black:
Back to Bridges

Tickets for the Friday, Feb. 20 performance of Grammy Award-winning comedian Lewis Black at Bridges Auditorium will go on sale to students of The Claremont Colleges beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Bridges box office. Tickets for the general public, including faculty and staff of The Colleges, will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 at Bridges and at Ticketmaster locations.
Tickets are on a first-come basis only and are priced $15 for students, and $40 for the general public. Black's performance is sponsored by The Claremont Colleges, and marks his return to Bridges after his sold-out show in February 2007. (Read student Amanda Brawner's recap of the evening: http://www.claremontmckenna.edu/news/insidecmc/2007March/black/.)
James Nauls, assistant dean of students and director of student activities and apartment housing, says that despite Black's success and popularity ("Everyone loved the show"), the cost of bringing the comedian back is "very reasonable."
Black's Web site lists him as "one of few performers to sell out multiple, renowned theatres, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Brooks Atkinson Theatre, New York City Center and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas." In August 2007, he was the first stand-up comedian to ever perform in concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
His first CD, The White Album, was released in 2000, and was followed with six morefour under the Comedy Central Records label. He received a 2006 Grammy nomination for Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues, and in 2007 won the Grammy for Best Comedy Album for The Carnegie Hall Performance.
Black has been seen on Larry King Live, Late Night with Conan O'Brian and The Late Show with David Letterman. In 2006 he appeared in three films, including Universal Pictures' Man of the Year with Robin Williams. In addition to his regular TV appearances and movie roles, he also has written two best-selling books, Nothing's Sacred (Simon and Schuster, 2005) and Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008).
